Inside Shale Gas Insight 2011

Today was the first day of the Marcellus Shale Coalition's Shale Gas Insight 2011 conference, which offered perspective on the unique opportunities presented by Pennsylvania's Marcellus Shale.  What's the key takeaway?  Vast supplies of clean and abundant natural gas present our nation with a path for creating jobs, increasing our energy security and providing a reliable source of energy for consumers and industries across the country.  Here are some highlights from today's events featuring Chesapeake Energy's Aubrey McClendon, Range Resources' John Pinkerton, U.S. Steel's John Surma and ANGA's Regina Hopper.

    please make acknowledgement to the problem that there is no impermeable stratus that cannot be broken with the method used to 'fract' for natural gas allowing the release of the natural gas that is contained in the shale to rise to the surface is a needed acknowledgement for all advertisements that are published in support of this method

    at the very least the adveretising should not be skirting the truth in this matter

    how any one can make the statement that the drilling for natural gas is far deeper than the drilling for water makes no sense as the method of applying intense pressure using fluids that have yet to be identified to split the shale and surrounding geological formations seems to me to approach the fraudulent ignorance of the facts in my opinion

    please provide this type of commitment to be part of your advertising as the current placements really do offend the sensibilities of the reader/viewer
