Looking for a quick lesson on the history of gas drilling
operations in the United States? Check out Paul Barrett's great
piece at Bloomberg.com, Shale Gas Reserves Could
Reignite U.S. Economy. Barrett highlights the
impressive trajectory of natural gas development over the past
several decades and the enormous potential it has for bolstering
our economy, national security and environment. Growing from
virtually nothing in 2000, shale production has increased to nearly
30% of the country's natural gas supply, and is headed towards 50%
in the coming years. Environmental Defense Fund head Fred Krupp
says, "Done the right way, there's just a lot to be said for
natural gas." We couldn't have said it better ourselves.
