America’s Natural Gas Alliance Names Regina Hopper President and CEO

WASHINGTON, D.C. November 6, 2009 – America’s Natural Gas Alliance (ANGA) announced today that veteran Washington trade association executive Regina Hopper will lead the organization as president and CEO.

Hopper will guide the natural gas organization’s efforts to increase appreciation for the environmental, economic and national security benefits of clean North American natural gas through aggressive and multi-faceted programs. She will assume the position November 30.

Hopper comes to ANGA after serving eight years as executive vice president of the United States Telecom Association where she worked to promote the importance of broadband deployment and adoption across America. In addition to her oversight of internal operations, Hopper coordinated USTelecom’s high-profile national advocacy through compelling advertising, grassroots and social media campaigns.

“The natural gas industry is quickly moving into a revolutionary time, and we are delighted to have a seasoned executive shaping our efforts. Regina will bring a wealth of energy and expertise to our work,” said David Trice, ANGA chairman.

As natural gas becomes highly recognized as a foundation for the world’s energy, Hopper joins ANGA at a critical time in the energy conversation. The alliance was formed earlier this year by North America’s leading independent natural gas exploration and production companies. Together, ANGA members produce more than 40 percent of the total U.S. natural gas supply.

Hopper, a former Emmy Award-winning CBS News correspondent and attorney, joined USTelecom after serving as executive vice president of the American Trucking Associations where she ran internal operations and coordinated advocacy efforts. Prior to joining ATA, Hopper served as senior vice president of litigation communications at Weber McGinn, where she provided strategic counsel in high-profile, mass-tort litigation.

Hopper succeeds Rod Lowman whose contract is expiring but will continue in a consultative role for the industry. As a start-up consultant for ANGA, Lowman provided needed organizational, lobbying and marketing campaign expertise. “Rod has been very instrumental during ANGA’s start-up phase. He is responsible for the good progress we have made in a short time frame, and we are appreciative of his service,” said Trice.

America’s Natural Gas Alliance (ANGA) represents 28 of the nation’s leading independent natural gas exploration and production companies. ANGA members are dedicated to increasing the appreciation of the environmental, economic and national security benefits of clean, abundant, American natural gas.
