Statement of ANGA President Rod Lowman on Senate EPW Committee Passage of Kerry-Boxer Bill

Washington, D.C. – November 5, 2009 – America’s Natural Gas Alliance (ANGA) President Rod Lowman issued the following statement regarding Senate EPW Committee Passage of Kerry-Boxer bill (S.1733):

“America’s Natural Gas Alliance looks forward to continuing to work with the Senate as the Kerry-Boxer bill makes its way through other committees of jurisdiction to encourage the use of abundant, clean, American natural gas. Specifically, we urge the Senate to add ANGA’s proposal for Bridge Fuel Credits – allowance incentives that encourage an increased use of abundant, clean, American natural gas – to the Kerry-Boxer bill.  This will not only lower regional electricity prices, but can help America reduce its carbon emissions today.”“American natural gas – which is 50 percent cleaner than coal – can curb emissions and help drive the U.S. into a greener energy future. Additionally, since 97 percent of the natural gas used in America is produced in North America, an increased use of abundant natural gas will not only reduce our carbon footprint, but bolster our energy security as well.”

America’s Natural Gas Alliance (ANGA) represents 28 of the nation’s leading independent natural gas exploration and production companies. ANGA members are dedicated to increasing the appreciation of the environmental, economic and national security benefits of clean, abundant, American natural gas.
